Re: Unable to boot sarge ia64 disk 1

not to pick nits or start fights, but i thought the semperon was 64bit.

in fact i was going to write a mail mocking the owner about the semperon being 64 bit. i mean it's mentioned in a buch of 64 bit specific pdfs and i even found this link.

http://www.amd.com/us-en/assets/content_type/white_papers_and_tech_docs/30430.pdf

which i thought sealed it being sixty for bit.

i got so far as to almost sending that mail, untill i went to the wikipedia.
so some new semperon chips are amd64 chips with the 64 bit stuff turned off (except memory controller on the socket 754 versions i think).

i'm going with these docs as being right though.

To test - we also downloaded the sarge i386 iso, which does boot fine on our system - but we would ideally like to be running an ia64 based system (we do numerical computing) Our system is
    Asus k8n-e deluxe
    AMD64 CPU (Sempron +3000)
    LG DVD-RAM drive

Sorry, the Sempron is not a AMD64 or an Itanium ia64. Your CPU is just a 32bit i386 compatible. The i386.iso is good.
