Modules not compiled in new kernel?

I just compiled a new kernel ( 2.6.15.3 ) for my Alpha Station 400 4/233 avanti.
I have the modules for the SCSI controlles compiled in the kernel.
Everything was well until i did:

>dpkg -i kernel-image-2.6.15.3_custom.1.0_alpha.deb
and
> mkinitrd -o /boot/initrd.img-2.6.15.3 2.6.15.3

Then it said something about the Sym53c8xx modules was not found.
But it also said that the modules probably was compiled in the kernel ( and I had ,I checked the config right after )

When I boot it freezes, and at boot it can't find the sym53c8xx module.(wich is compiled in )
It stops at:

SCSI.0: Time out

or something like that.

How can I fix it?

Conny
