Re: booting/installing debian-alpha from CD-ROM
Hi all,
As you may have seen, Andreas Jellinghaus, the Debian GNU/Linux CD-ROM
maintainer, has asked what we need by way of an alpha CD-ROM, and I have
replied (because I've tried to make alpha-bootable debain CDs, not because
I'm a debian maintainer even though I'd want to be :).
I think Andreas's layout is basically fine, with just a few comments; I'd
like to hear what others have to say so I can summarize to him (since he is
more than enough busy at the moment and I somehow made enough noise that I
should take some blame^H^H^H^H^Hresponsibility here).
What is needed now is TWO THINGS:
1. For each SUBARCHITECTURE (alcor, miata, lx, noname, ...) that we want to
support we need to CHOOSE files
milo
vmlinux.gz
to put on the CD. From these we also need to assemble a
resc1440.bin
image for each subarchitecture but I can do that with a simple script.
2. Someone needs to fixup Loic's great root+base set on
so that it works fully (I'll look at it a bit over the weekend but
others should, too: I just have a miata...).
Looking forward to your reactions,
Kristoffer
