General questions about debian-alpha...

Hello -

I've just installed debian-alpha on a 164LX system, replacing Red Hat
5.0. Our lab has a number of Debian i386 machines, and we wanted to make
administration easier for the Alpha. In general, everything went pretty
smoothly. I did have a few small problems with certain packages, but I've
worked with Debian on Intel before and was able to get around most of the
problems.

My questions concern what I should do about the problems I did/do have.
I do know about the Debian bug tracking system, but if I make a bug report
about a package there, most likely it will go to a maintainer who doesn't
have access to an alpha. If he (or she) is a good maintainer, perhaps he
will get in touch with this list (as I think happened a few weeks ago). If
not... ? There doesn't seem to be any information included about who
built the package for Debian-Alpha. I kind of wish there were, but then
that would imply that there was a separate maintainer for the Alpha port,
which doesn't seem to be the case.... Should there be? (Side question:
are there separate diffs for alpha package builds from the original
source?)

I also found Chris's Debian Alpha Port Page
(http://beezer.med.miami.edu:8080/alpha/), which has a lot of useful
information, in particular a link to an Alpha Specific Debian Bug Tracking
System. I'm inclined to post a message (or a few) there, but it doesn't
seem to get much traffic--in a year's time, there have only been 24 posts,
and 14 haven't been resolved yet.

The last option I can think of is to post a message (or few) to this
list (or maybe another one), but in general, this list seems to be for
more general discussion, although some requests for help in resolving
bug-like problems have surfaces during the time I've been lurking on this
list (about a month).

I have a few small problems I'd like to try to fix up (in particular,
rwho/rwhod don't work, xntpd sigfaults on startup, and there are a few
dependency problems.) If I have time (doubtful), I'll try to work on them
myself, but if someone(s) would comment on where I can report these, I
would appreciate it--thank you!

Kevin
