Booting on an AlphaServer 1000

I've been trying to load Debian on an AlphaServer 1000 (5/300), but haven't
made it past MILO yet;

I picked the Alcor milo from gatekeeper and it loads fine, but when I give
it the boot command it immediately bombs with a message sort of like this:

MILO> boot fd0:vmlinux.gz root=/dev/fd0 load_ramdisk=1
Ramdisk driver initialized : 16 ramdisks of 2096K size
Floppy drive(s): fd0 is 2.88M
  CIA machine check: reason for machine-check unknown (0xd001a0)
  vector=0x670 la_ptr=0xfffffc00000005a0 pc=0xfffffc0000477820

anyone have any hints?

Thanks
