Ah. I had assumed that apptitude would figure out and do that two-step
process for me.

I guess installing libxmlada from a local build can be expected to
confuse it. Except that I had already installed libxmlada from Debian.

Anyway, now I know that sometimes upgrading can take two (or more?)
aptitude runs.
