I'm not sure if this is related, but after I installed 'gnat', I wanted
to install gnat-4.6.1-9 (since it is the latest).
However, aptitude can't figure out how to do it:
stephe@Shevek$ sudo schroot -- aptitude install --without-recommends gnat-4.6
The following packages will be upgraded:
cpp-4.6 gcc-4.6 gcc-4.6-base gnat-4.6 gnat-4.6-base libgcc1 libgnat-4.6
libgnatprj4.6 libgnatvsn4.6 libgomp1 libquadmath0
11 packages upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 184 not upgraded.
Need to get 26.3 MB of archives. After unpacking 32.8 kB will be used.
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
libstdc++6: Depends: gcc-4.6-base (= 4.6.1-4) but 4.6.1-9 is to be installed.
libgfortran3: Depends: gcc-4.6-base (= 4.6.1-4) but 4.6.1-9 is to be installed.
g++-4.6: Depends: gcc-4.6-base (= 4.6.1-4) but 4.6.1-9 is to be installed.
Depends: gcc-4.6 (= 4.6.1-4) but 4.6.1-9 is to be installed.
gfortran-4.6: Depends: gcc-4.6-base (= 4.6.1-4) but 4.6.1-9 is to be installed.
Depends: gcc-4.6 (= 4.6.1-4) but 4.6.1-9 is to be installed.
libstdc++6-4.6-dev: Depends: gcc-4.6-base (= 4.6.1-4) but 4.6.1-9 is to be installed.
The following actions will resolve these dependencies:
Remove the following packages:
1) gnat
2) gnat-4.6
3) libaunit2-dev
4) libxmlada4.1-dev
Keep the following packages at their current version:
5) cpp-4.6 [4.6.1-4 (now)]
6) gcc-4.6 [4.6.1-4 (now)]
7) gcc-4.6-base [4.6.1-4 (now)]
8) gnat-4.6-base [4.6.1-1 (now)]
9) libgcc1 [1:4.6.1-4 (now)]
10) libgnat-4.6 [4.6.1-1 (now)]
11) libgnatprj4.6 [4.6.1-1 (now)]
12) libgnatvsn4.6 [4.6.1-1 (now)]
13) libgomp1 [4.6.1-4 (now)]
14) libquadmath0 [4.6.1-4 (now)]
Accept this solution? [Y/n/q/?] q
If I say 'n', it offers several other solutions, none of which actually
update to gnat-4.6.1-9.
Apparently I'm too tired to sort this out, so I'm going to bed now, and
hoping inspiration (or a reply :) will strike in the morning.
