Re: Old Debian and Starting A Service

All that would have helped to begin with, but since it wouldn't update, I guess the point is mute.

It's a live Command Line Interface CD. It boots into the system.
h is for help. Or you can type the whole command "help".
h or "help" opens up help.txt in nano.
Capital V in "install Vinux to hard drive".

Vinux CLI max comes with ssh server and client installed.

menu runs pdmenu which is that ASCII graphics menu.

n runs cnetworkmanager.

It's all in help.txt which you can read (it speaks) with command h or "help"

Glenn,

You said "Yeah, I got it to boot up but I couldn't get into it, and I
got no guidance
on upgrading it, so it was a non-starter.".

If you're talking about Vinux 2.1 Debian CLI (we talked about the
Debian and the Ubuntu versions of Vinux, so I don't know which you are
referring to) it opens up talking with instructions.

Vinux 2.1 is the best documented distro I've ever seen.
When it boots, it beeps, but do nothing, just wait 40 seconds, then
the prompt will appear. There is writing on the screen that doesn't
speak.

The writing just says "type h" for help.
If you type "h" at the prompt, an amazing document of help appears.

Did you get that far, Glenn?
