I'm willing to test. Let me know when the fix makes it to the daily D-I builds and I'll download and test the latest daily CD image. If there is a way to test this on an already installed system, I'll do that as well. I assume I would purge and reinstall alsa-utils?

Thanks for finally fixing this. I know this bug has caused frustration for many people.
