Yes, its tar.gz.
Penguin18 is not in the Debian archive, make a tar file and show me where it
is. What needs to be changed? The prefs file? Id prefer a mac user to do and
another to test this. I dont have a mac, only an emulator...

Glitches with amiga (might apply in part to others as well):
I renamed rootamiga to root, rescueamiga to rescue, ..., to have a similar
layout as the other arches have (I will not do that for vme, as requested
yesterday). I forgot to edit the StartInstall files accordingly... no idea
how booting works on atari and mac, you probably have to tell someone where
to look for the root.bin.
After unpackung the archive, you will probably not see the top drawer
(amiga) since there is no icon for it. Just cp images-1.44.info to
amiga.info, will be fixed in the next version (if I can build another...)
The keymaps do not work yet, the error msg is wrong, will try to fix this.
Besides this, I can install fine on amiga.  How do you like the StartInstall
icons?
