Unfortunately, I was not there, but I heard about the dispute.

Our task now — and many times to come in the next months — is to
produce a result by a specific time, and which works for everyone.
IMHO, the only way to do this is to leave Tammi & Bernelle in charge
and to trust them to do their best to incorporate the wishes and
concerns of the rest of the team.

The result won't reflect everyone's preferences, but it would never,
no matter which process we use to arrive at a logo/design. But
a logo that everyone at least accepts is better than no logo. (I
wanted a different logo for DC15…)

I understand that the process around design/logo has been a bit
intransparent, as Bernelle & Tammi just got on it and did stuff.

On the one hand, we need to make sure to honour this and welcome
initiatives and action like this, because this is life-support to
DebConf orga.

On the other hand, we need to ensure that the communication is
adequate. In particular, it'd probably been better if at some point
we explicitly discussed the logo/design process up front (explicitly
delegating to the two), and whenever a delegate works towards or
takes a decision, they should ensure to keep the team in the loop.

But people won't keep each other in the loop if we have to be afraid
of having our decisions and work challenged, despite a delegation
and best efforts at communicating. So it's really chicken-egg and
one way to break this cycle now is to forward trust to Tammy
& Bernelle to complete the logo/design process, knowing that they'll
do their best to take all our considerations into account.

And when a decision is made, then it's everyone's responsibility to
stand behind the decision and not reopen the books. It's a tough
learning, but if we don't manage to do this in our team, we'll be
facing more of the issues the rest of dc-orga is already facing.
I.e., decision-making under time pressure in a volunteer team is
*hard* to get right.

Well, my 2¢ anyway…
