I had breakfast with Mika Matsuzika today at the University of Washington, following her tweet https://twitter.com/epimika/status/505470835885240320 During this discussion, the following idea came up: allowing sponsors to adopt a diversity programme, i.e. similar to our perks. The way this /could/ happen is by setting aside e.g. 10 scholarships (e.g. valued 2.500 € each) and letting companies provide them. We could then use those scholarships to invite people who we think would substantially increase diversity of the conference. What do you think? Personally, I am pretty sure that sponsors would be *very* interested in this, given all the (calls for) transparency around diversity we are seeing nowadays, especially around tech. So I think we should even try to get this into the sponsorship brochure, now, or in its next version… And you? -- .''`. martin f. krafft <madduck@debconf.org> @martinkrafft : :' : DebConf orga team `. `'` `- DebConf14: Portland, OR, USA: http://debconf14.debconf.org DebConf15: Heidelberg, Germany: http://debconf15.debconf.org
