So they felt welcome after overcoming their own, initial prejudices?

That's great; kudos to them! This only goes to show how important it
is to approach _everyone_ with an open mind.

In all seriousness though, I see a certain risk of this eating into
normal sponsorship budgets, i.e. a redistribution instead of a net
increase. On the other hand, a very large chunk of our budget will go
towards travel & accommodation sponsorship, anyway. As diversity can
be defined in a myriad of ways (obviously...), what exactly are you
aiming for, though?
Initial gender, gender identity, age, sexual orientation, number of
previous attendance to DC or other similar conferences, physical or
mental disabilities, region of residence, demagogic, education,
social, ethnic, field of professional specialisation, or what?

This is a serious question and I am _not_ trying to pull anyone's leg
or offend anyone (it sucks a bit that I even feel the need to clarify
that...). But just saying "diversity" is a bit like saying
"eco-friendly" or "natural", imo. We would need to specify this. Else,
we would be cheating the sponsors a bit and invite needless
bikeshedding down the road.
