I don't think that's an accurate summary of the sequence of events.
The recent multiple times when we re-agreed to hold it in Le Camp
happened because:
- It seemed that many of the local members of the team would not be
willing to work on any other option. (It's possible that the recent
messages saying there was/is no intention of a local team veto mean that
this was a mistake. But it's certainly the understanding that I acted
on, including in how I chaired the last two team meetings that discussed
the venue question.)
- Others insisted that a decision be made immediately, and the only
option about which we had adequate information was Le Camp.
(Unfortunately the first time we acted on that request was some time ago
now, so that there would in fact have been time for whoever wanted to
check other options in more detail. It still seems to me that a venue
could have been found which had all the things that people like in Le
Camp, but which had other options nearby or at least the excellent train
connections etc. that are normal in Switzerland.)
Those are certainly the reasons that I was ready to go along with Le
Camp, rather than because I thought it was good. And while other
proposed venues like St. Moritz may well have severe downsides, those
downsides have not been listed anywhere I have seen.
