Thank you for the advice. It is well appreciated. Armed with your
advice, I have now bought my ticket.

If anyone is curious how much my plane ticket happened to cost, here is
the data: Including taxes and fees the round-trip ticket from Roanoke,
Virginia (ROA) to Mexico City (MEX) 13 May, returning 22 May, cost
US$ 409 (336 euros). I change planes once each way. The rate is a
student rate through studentuniverse.com.

As it happens, the flight I got lands at MEX at 14:15 local time, so in
light of Andrew's, Marcela's and Gabriela's advice, it seems that I need
not stay the night in Mexico City, after all. This is good.

The last leg of my inbound flight to MEX is United 975 from Chicago
O'Hare (ORD). Anyone reading this who plans the same flight leg,
contact me.
