readcd pretty much supports the same device specification as cdrecord,
which means IDE drives can be accessed with dev=ATAPI:x,y,z. Run
cdrecord dev=ATAPI: -scanbus. Unfortunately using ATAPI: changes the
designation of the SCSI devices, so you have to memorise 2 sets of
numbers (IMO device names could be seriously improved).
