Start dselect.  
Do nselect.
Scroll down to something which may not be useful.
Press "-" long to deselect.
install.
Then do dselect again to install what you want.  Your old config shall
be still good.

But before doing this, I recommend you to clean apt cache

 # apt-get autoclean
