you should not ever use bootx on newworlds such as imacs.  always use
yaboot.  BootX is not supported on these machines.

read http://www.alaska.net/~erbenson/doc/mac-fdisk-basics  you need to
create a Apple_Bootstrap partition to hold yaboot.
