RE: LSB test suites questions

Hi,

This is an engineer from Intel. I have some issues about lsb testing on my
linux OS. I mailed to Andrew, Josey and I have some updates now.

Andrew, I cc this mail to you and hope you have some new ideas.

I downloaded the latest version of LSB Test suits and the situation keeps
mad, :(
So I still have the two questions. I paste the original mail content here:

Hi, Andrew,

I am an engineer from Intel Corporation. My group members are now developing
a Linux project and we applied some patches on the kernel. We want to have
a LSB compliance testing on our Linux platform to ensure we follow the
stardard of Linux and I am the owner of LSB compliace validation of our
platform.

I use LSB 1.1.9(say, lsb-runtime-test-1.1.9-1.i386.rpm) test suites and I
got some failures. I use different built kernels to have failed cases tested
so that I can locate the failure. So I have some questions about it and I am
very eagar to have your great help:

1. I noticed that LSB test suites use the TETWare and it uses
loopback_disk.ext2. My question is: Does that mean LSB test can be ran on
any file systems, at least, ext3 filesys, since it will chroot to the looped
file system with type ext2? I ask this because sometimes the system crashed
and I really want to bypass the boring filesystem checking process in the
rebooting process and you know, ext3 is just fine for this.

2. Since some cases failed and I want to find the reason, I need to change
the sequence of the cases in the file scen.exec. Say, delete the success
cases and let alone the failed ones. So my question is: Can I do it? I mean
I did modify the scen.exec file but I was not sure about whether there
exists some dependencies of the cases.

Any suggestion about LSB Compliance Testing?

hi
You are running an out of date version of the test suites.
Please see
http://www.opengroup.org/lsb/cert/docs/testsuites.html

for the list of the latest authorized versions. Please try those
out first.

Any questions related to the LSB tests should then be sent
to lsb-test@linuxbase.org

best regards
Andrew
