Have you tried geomyidae as a gopher server?
I'm a little peeved, because "use something else" doesn't help me solve
this problem, and I actually do read this list.

In this case, I don't see a server to test. I do see a bug in the proxy
which I am trying to fix, but when I connect to Floodgap directly with a
native client, which is the best way to do it, Bucktooth sends a full
file.
If someone gives me a URL to investigate, I will, but I don't see your
RPi URL in the original message.
