Toward the end of a lengthy install:

Setting up linuxlogo (1.06-5) ...

linuxlogo can be configured to display at the login prompt
with /usr/sbin/linuxlogoconfig.

dpkg: ../../../dpkg/packages.c:191: process_queue: Assertion `dependtry <= 4' failed.
E: Sub-process returned an error code
Exit 100

At this point, apt-get is wedged:

# apt-get upgrade
E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run dpkg to correct the problem.
Exit 100

I don't have much more information than that, nor any hint as to
*what* I should do with dpkg... dpkg --audit has only minor
complaints; dpkg --configure --pending doesn't fix them because they
are bugs in the package postinsts themselves...

# sudo dpkg --configure --pending
Setting up tm (7.106.0-1.6) ...

dpkg: error processing tm (--configure):
 subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 2
dpkg: ../../../dpkg/packages.c:191: process_queue: Assertion `dependtry <= 4' failed.
Abort

APT should be more resilient than this; I'll send in a separate bug
report against dpkg, though...
