I should have noticed it earlier!

You're right, GL rendering with libgl1-mesa-dri 7.7.1-4 is done
through r300c driver, whereas it's done through r300g with
libgl1-mesa-dri 7.10-4. Checked with glxinfo on my system.

OK, I'll try it. Is this howto
