Package: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics
Version: 1.2.1-1

After upgrading, my Synaptics touchpad is no longer recognised:

(II) config/udev: Adding input device "SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad" (/dev/input/event7)
(II) Synaptics touchpad driver version 1.2.1
  (**) Option "Device" "/dev/input/event7"
(--) "SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad": no supported touchpad found
(EE) "SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad" Unable to query/initialize Synaptics hardware.
(EE) PreInit failed for input device ""SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad""
  (II) UnloadModule: "synaptics"

Note that the touchpad is known to the kernel:

  [ 12.415430] Synaptics Touchpad, model: 1, fw: 5.9, id: 0xa54ab1, caps: 0x804713/0x0
[ 12.540718] input: SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad as /devices/platform/i8042/serio4/input/input7

you will have to configure these features explicitly now. In gnome you
can do that from gnome-mouse-properties.

All looks like the default documented behaviour to me:

"... the driver initializes defaults based on the capabilities
reported by the kernel driver. Acceleration, edges and resolution are
based on the dimensions reported by the kernel. If the kernel reports
multi-finger detection, two-finger vertical scrolling is enabled,
horizontal two-finger scrolling is disabled and edge scrolling is
disabled. If no multi-finger capabilities are reported, edge scrolling
is enabled for both horizontal and vertical scrolling. Tapping is
disabled by default for touchpads with one or more physical buttons."

and you have:
(II) Synaptics Touchpad: buttons: left right middle double triple
