Bug#607767: Blank screen on starting X with Dual 2 GHz G5 and X800XT; DRM module not loading for radeon driver

It appears the entire machine is locking up when I try to startx.

I can boot the machine into Linux single mode and ssh into it from another machine. When I type "startx" the see several lines of text flash by, and then a blank screen. The ssh window on the other machine freezes. I can't ping the Linux machine, either. Attached is the :0.log file from /var/log/gdm, which is, as you will see, very short.
