Package: totem-mozilla
Version: 2.16.4-2
Severity: critical
Justification: breaks the whole system

Hi,

This morning I wanted to see how the new Apple IPhone looks like, so I
pointed my iceweasel to :

http://files.macbidouille.com/news/200701/iPhone_H264.mov

this give me the error :

You do not have a decoder installed to handle this file. You might need
to install the necessary plugins.

But I have totem-mozilla installed and about:plugins tells me that
video/quicktime are handled by : QuickTime Plug-in 7.0 (compatible;
Totem)....

Anyway, let's try videolan :

wget http://files.macbidouille.com/news/200701/iPhone_H264.mov
vlc iPhone_H264.mov

=> vlc's window open and the screen freezed!

I sshed into my powerbook from another computer to see that Xorg was
eating 100% of the CPU. I killed vlc and iceweasel but nothing changed.
I sudo killall -9 Xorg and my computer is still freezed! Even my ssh
connection got freezed and I was not able to connect with ssh anymore
:-(

So I reset it.

After that, I have try to reproduced it :

vlc iPhone_H264.mov alone works perfectly. But if I try to open the
video with iceweasel before, the computer freeze like the first time.

If you need any additionnal information please, just ask.

Regards.

Hi,

I can't reproduced it with Etch : the video doesn't play in firefox but
it doesn't freezed my powerbook anymore, even if I use simultenously
videolan.

Many thanks to whom fixed this bug.
