Package: xfree86-common
Version: 4.3.0.dfsg.1-12
Severity: important

Hello

Since I've upgraded xfree86-common to version 4.3.0.dfsg.1-12, I can
no longer log in my system: kdm starts and I have the login
screen. But I soon as I enter the login/passwd, X fails (I can see a
black screen, then the grey mesh and the login screen comes back)

kdm.log shows:
(WW) RADEON: No matching Device section for instance (BusID PCI:3:0:1) found
(WW) RADEON(0): Failed to set up write-combining range (0xc0000000,0x8000000)

I've also tried to run startx from root to no avail: X fails immedialtely.

Xfree86.0.log shows:
(WW) Open APM failed (/dev/apm_bios) (No such device)

I don't know why XFree tries to open an apm device since I use
ACPI. (Nforce2 board)

Here's syslog output when I try to start X:

May 5 14:27:36 localhost kernel: apm: BIOS version 1.2 Flags 0x07 (Driver version 1.16ac)
May 5 14:27:36 localhost kernel: apm: disabled on user request.
May 5 14:27:36 localhost modprobe: FATAL: Error inserting apm (/lib/modules/2.6.11/kernel/arch/i386/kernel/apm.ko): No such device
May 5 14:27:38 localhost kernel: agpgart: Found an AGP 3.0 compliant device at
0000:00:00.0.
May 5 14:27:38 localhost kernel: agpgart: XFree86 passes broken AGP3 flags (1f00420f). Fixed.
May 5 14:27:38 localhost kernel: agpgart: Putting AGP V3 device at 0000:00:00.0 into 8x mode
May 5 14:27:38 localhost kernel: agpgart: Putting AGP V3 device at 0000:03:00.0 into 8x mode
May 5 14:27:38 localhost kernel: [drm] Loading R200 Microcode

Note that my setup works fine with xfree86-common_4.3.0.dfsg.1-10.

Cheers
