well, i removed the link
ls -l /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/rgb
ls: /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/rgb: No such file or directory
then did
dpkg --force-confmiss -i
/var/cache/apt/archives/xserver-xorg_6.8.2.dfsg.1-10_i386.deb
and
hpd:/home/trc# dpkg --force-confmiss -i
/var/cache/apt/archives/x11-common_6.8.2.dfsg.1-10_all.deb
(Reading database ... 232159 files and directories currently installed.)
Preparing to replace x11-common 6.8.2.dfsg.1-10 (using
.../x11-common_6.8.2.dfsg.1-10_all.deb) ...
Unpacking replacement x11-common ...
Setting up x11-common (6.8.2.dfsg.1-10) ...
Configuration file `/etc/X11/rgb.txt', does not exist on system.
Installing new config file as you request.
System startup links for /etc/init.d/x11-common already exist.
Setting up X server socket directory /tmp/.X11-unix...done.
Setting up ICE socket directory /tmp/.ICE-unix...done.
which looks good so far, then
trc@hpd:~$ emacs21
Undefined color: "black"
trc@hpd:~$ emacs21
Undefined color: "black"
so, i'm postponing this, logging out and back again.
Back: After fixing some settings in .Xresources everything is
working!!!!
Thanks guys.
