Bug#204603: xserver-xfree86: Crashes with signal 11 after Woody->Sarge upgrade

Package: xserver-xfree86
Version: 4.2.1-6
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Yesterday i upgraded from Woody to Sarge, and since then
I havent been able to start my xserver. It crashes with a
signal 11.

I used the upgrade procedure described in the debian manual, but about 500
packages were held back, so I used apt-get install/upgrade/dist-upgrade
randomly. (I may have put the wrong numbers in my preferences file)

Perhaps my problem is caused by the fact that before the update I did
not have a file names /etc/X11/XF86Config-4. Instead I used a file
named /etc/X11/XFreeConfig. This worked fine in Woody, but it may have
confused the update script. I have put my prior version
of XF86Config at the end of this report (after all the other files)

# the way multiple screens are organised. A specific ServerLayout
# section may be specified from the X server command line with the
# "-layout" option. In the absence of this, the first section is used.
# When now ServerLayout section is present, the first Screen section
# is used alone.
