Working on it :-) Though - very oddly - today's apt-get update apt-get
upgrade successfully completed (giving the same error message as in my
previous mail). I have no idea what changed.

Now for the fun job of debugging the config with only lynx as the
browser to find info on it :-) Thank goodness for debian-users :-)
