Another problem is that my patch makes crucial modifications to the DRM,
without which the Radeon XFree86 driver patches will have little or no
effect. The DRM is the only place where things like Radeon microcode can be
reloaded after resume.
I've thought about this, but wouldn't know how to package this for Debian,
as Debian ships an unpatched kernel AFAICR. Are there other packages which
ship kernel modules?
I did submit the work to fixes@xfree86.org, but apparently too late for the
4.3 release. I've been promised that it would be integrated AFTER the 4.3
release, so eventually the DRM part will propagate into the 2.5 (and
probably 2.4) kernel trees.
