It would take about half an hour for someone who bellyaches about this problem to make a source package out of xc/programs/xauth, build-depend on xlibs-dev and xutils, and have an alternative xauth package that is statically linked against libXmuu, libXext, and libX11. Please, do so. I will fully support you in this endeavor as it will get a lot of people off my back. I'm not sure "tiny-xauth" would be the right name for such a package, given that it won't be smaller than the normal xauth executable. Maybe "static-xauth". It could either divert the normal xauth or Conflict/Replace/Provide xbase-clients. (It will have to do one or the author because some packages Build-Depend on xbase-clients for xauth.)
