Thanks for your interest.
I think there is no Urdu language team in Debian yet (friends, please correct me
if I am wrong).

Please read this page: https://www.debian.org/international/ to get an idea of
the different parts of Debian that may be interesting to translate: not only the
website, also the Debian installer, documentation, etc.

You may want to contact other Urdu translators in order to set up a Debian Urdu
language team, since the contents will change and the translations need to be
maintained up-to-date. You have some names here:

https://www.debian.org/international/l10n/po/ur
https://d-i.debian.org/l10n-stats/level2/ur.txt
https://d-i.debian.org/l10n-stats/level1/ur.txt

And some more exploring some other free software projects translated to Urdu:
https://hosted.weblate.org/languages/ur/

If you would like to start translating "anything" in Debian, and don't know
where to start, I would suggest to start with the Debian installer. If you want
to work with git and files offline please follow this document:
https://salsa.debian.org/installer-team/installation-guide/blob/master/doc/translations_po.txt

or if you prefer a web-based interface, please ask in
debian-boot@lists.debian.org so they activate Urdu language in the weblate project:
https://hosted.weblate.org/projects/debian-installer

Now, for the website, if we provide an Urdu translation of the website (or at
least, some of the most visited pages), we would need to do some different tasks:

1.- You or somebody would need to provide some translated files (for example,
the new files we want to publish soon). You don't need access to Salsa for this,
you can download the files and send them to debian-www mailing list for us to
commit:

https://salsa.debian.org/webmaster-team/webwml/raw/new-homepage/english/index.wml?inline=false

https://salsa.debian.org/webmaster-team/webwml/raw/new-homepage/english/more.wml?inline=false

https://salsa.debian.org/webmaster-team/webwml/raw/new-homepage/english/intro/why_debian.wml?inline=false

2.- We would need to enable Urdu in the webwml repo. These changes are described
in this page: https://www.debian.org/devel/website/translating (section:
Starting a new translation), and it's an easy task.

3.- Do we need to install some fonts or urdu-specific package in the website
server, in order to build or display correctly the Urdu pages? If yes, please
tell us which Debian packages to install.

4.- Once the language is enabled and these new files are translated, you may
want to follow translating the .po files that include some strings used in
different parts of the website, and more .wml files. These .po files will appear
in the /urdu folder once the website is prepared to display the pages in Urdu.
If you are impatient and want to start now, download the .pot files here:
https://salsa.debian.org/webmaster-team/webwml/tree/new-homepage/english/po
change their extension from .pot to .po, and start translating.

We can use debian-i18n to coordinate any Debian translation to Urdu, debian-www
to coordinate the website translation, or if you gather a team, you may want to
ask for a debian-l10n-urdu mailing list or a debian-user-urdu mailing list. See
https://www.debian.org/MailingLists/HOWTO_start_list for more details.

Kind regards
