Pages in the doc tree

Hi!

While looking how the validating problem of the pages in the doc tree can be solved, I remembered my Fangs plugin, which emulates a Screenreader. I do not know, how good Fangs is at all. But the results make me shrug.

Pasting the results here is not the same as lookin the fangs results, as you migth not see the pauses here. But I want to lead you to the extended usage of brackets, which are mor for readers, who see the brackets. This is how Fangs reads the FAQ entry, pleas look for a possible solution further down:

Heading level two Debian GNU slash Linux FAQ Block quote start Users' Frequently Asked Questions. Summary colon Table with two columns and four rows Authors colon Susan G. Kleinmann, Sven Rudolph, Santiago Vila, Josip Rodin, Javier Fernández dash Sanguino Peña Maintainer colon Javier Fernández dash Sanguino Peña Status colon ready Availability colon Debian package Link doc dash debian Latest version colon English colon left bracket Link HTML right bracket left bracket Link plain text right bracket left bracket Link PDF right bracket left bracket Link PS right bracket Spanish colon left bracket Link HTML right bracket left bracket Link plain text right bracket left bracket Link PDF right bracket left bracket Link PS right bracket Portuguese colon left bracket Link HTML right bracket left bracket Link plain text right bracket left bracket Link PDF right bracket left bracket Link PS right bracket Russian colon left bracket Link HTML right bracket left bracket Link plain text right bracket left bracket Link PDF right bracket left bracket Link PS right bracket Italian colon left bracket Link HTML right bracket left bracket Link plain text right bracket left bracket Link PDF right bracket left bracket Link PS right bracket Polish colon left bracket Link HTML right bracket left bracket Link plain text right bracket left bracket Link PDF right bracket left bracket Link PS right bracket Use Link CVS to download the SGML source text for Link faq . Table end Block quote end Heading level two

I an mot sure if presenting a download link with "left bracket Link HTML right bracket" is really what we want.

My suggestion:

Devide each entry in for/five parts:
1. Title (heading)
2. Description (text block <p>)
3. Table with bibliography
4. Download tabel for latest version (without the brackets)
5. additional notices

Validation errors are at http://www.witch.westfalen.de/debian/diff/ validate-errors-doc . Not that that other errors can be hidden behind those listed in the error log.

How the page look, if we switch to HTML strict without correcting those errors can be seen at http://www.witch.westfalen.de/dwww/doc/ - They are not totally broken, but they are.

What to do?

- - Leave as it is for later solution?
- - Trying the suggested changes and make the page valid HTML strict?
- - Any other idea?

greetings

Jutta
