new Debian news pages installed
The news pages have been replaced with a version that sits under the
directory News/. Under this directory there is a directory for each
year. Every news item is in its own file named by the date it was released
(multiple announcements per day can have a letter appended to distinguish
them). The index files are created by a script that grabs the titles from
the files.
This was done for two reasons. First, it will enable translators to translate
only those announcements they feel it is important to translate or have
the time to translate. Second, it will make it easier to include announcements
that are already preformatted.
The current template/debian/recent_news.wml file will be modified so that it
will find the names of the announcement files under the webwml/english/News
directory (this should be done RSN). It will then grab the translated title
from any translated files that exist and get the rest from the corresponding
file under english/News.
