Another implication of this (if I correctly understand Piotr) is that Pear modules should not include any .registry files. Is that correct?Maybe we can ask if Pear Group can change pear to read more than one directory in option "php_dir" . We can keep registry files , because if we find a way to integrate /usr/share/php and /usr/local/share/php.. these files are very small, and dont represent a big problem :)Ok. But important is not to modify, create or remove this files manually! The packages should bring the .register files in archive, not postinst/postrm scripts. Then they could be verified by `debsums' later. The default php_dir should be /usr/local/php by default. If not, the user can destroy the /usr/share/php system directories.
Yes, I think so. we can create packages,, putting in debian/rules,, somethink like $(PEAR) install -n -R debian/$(package) $(pear_pkg)/package.xml; I did it in my pear packages;.If someone would like to see : http://www.psabs.com.br/debian/pool/main/p/php-soap/
But we need to pass a option to write as usr/share/php and not usr/local/share.
