typo3 on a multi-user webserver

hello,

I just run a webserver (apache2, libapache2-mod-php4, mysql......on 
sarge) hosting abount 20 domains.

I have 4 clients running typo3 and they have problems
in uploading plugins and so on... because my directory structure
look like...

drwxr-xr-x   7 jochen jochen 4,0K 2005-01-21 21:40 domain1.de
-rw-r--r--   1 jochen jochen  20K 2005-04-29 13:44 file1.php
-rw-r--r--   1 jochen jochen  20K 2005-04-29 13:44 file2.php
drwxr-xr-x   7 jochen jochen 4,0K 2005-01-21 21:40 __uploads__

typo3 needs write-permission on some directories (__uploads__).

what to do?

drwxr-xr-x   7 www-data jochen 4,0K 2005-01-21 21:40 __uploads__

or 

putting each jochen in group www-data?

or

using with chattr?

Another problem ist the each client uses other components of typo3
and therefore I can't define a structure and prepare filepermission.
