We could however more prominently indicate the downsides of
contrib/non-free and restrict their reach:

Having our various services more prominently indicate non-free
packages/downloads.

Having packages.d.o only return results from main by default.

Having apt prompt for confirmation before installation.

Add an extra component that d-i could add to sources.list when
non-free firmware is needed, instead of adding all of non-free.

Likewise for drivers, GNU documentation, the web, tools for external
APIs and other common categories of non-free things.

Some more of the ideas from John Sullivan at DebConf14:

http://meetings-archive.debian.net/pub/debian-meetings/2014/debconf14/webm/Debian_and_the_FSF_working_together_to_advance_free_software.webm

How do the candidates feel about the above ideas?
