A good bit of advice is, avoid bleeding edge hardware unless you want
to help Linux to support it. And prices are lower for older or factory
refurbished hardware.

I've been hearing some negative things about Lenovo for several years now although I agree that IBM was a good bet. But even back then it wasn't always a slam dunk.

I normally stick with AMD hardware but in this case ASUS decided to pair AMD with nVidia, I'd planned to just use the Nouveau drivers but that turned out to be a non-starter. :(
