Which makes sense for most workloads. Very rarely do people write continuously to disks *and never keep the data there to read it later*. There are exceptions (mostly of the transaction log type for otherwise memory-resident data), and you can get write optimized storage, but you'll pay more. For most people that's a bad deal, because it would mean paying for a level of write endurance that they'll never use.
