Dear Reco and Linux-Fan, thanks for the fast response. Well, space is really a thing, that is important. I intend using virtualbox for teaching purposes. The goal is, to have very easy and fast a kali-linux and metasploitable available, without changing the running system and independent of the running system. Thus my idea is, to start virtualbox portable (no installation, can later be removed), then boot kali and metasploitable. Hower, virtualbox can boot ISO as well as import VDI or OVA. As not all of my students might own a decent computer, space is important as well as 32-bit or 64-bit (I am building my own kali and debian livefiles, so I have 32-bit and 64-bit available). Here I am running kali on my EEEPC from SD-Card (1,6GHz, 2GB RAM), which is still fast enough and it is 32-bit. So my idea is, that my students shall be able to run it on also on their older computers. Thios was the background of my question, what might be better, ISO or VDI or OVA - size and performance are here the most important points. Thanks for making some things clearer now. Best regards Hans
