Have you paired and trusted the device already?
I usually do

[bluetooth]# agent on
[bluetooth]# default-agent

pair 
trust
connect

but  it would be easier if you would use blueman-applet (or equivalent) to
do so.

you could list all connected devices in pulseaudio with
$ pactl list short

and if needed  modify the setup.

Are you trying to do this from root?
This all should be done by the user as PA is started in the user session.
