Bash can, e.g.

$ oldIFS="$IFS"; IFS=': '; ip -o link | while read num interface other; do declare -p interface; done; IFS="$oldIFS"
declare -- interface="lo"
declare -- interface="eth0"
declare -- interface="br0"
declare -- interface="vethJWC4DL"
