I sometimes have freezes on my Pi; what I intend to do is set up remote syslog
or journal logging to another host, and see whether there's any clues in the
last logs when it's gone down. There's also a netconsole kernel module that
can be used to spray kernel log messages over UDP, that may be worth a look:

It's possible it dies before the logging services have a chance to commit the
logs to disk, hence my suggestions to fire it over the network instead.
