Same window content from a 2nd Hauppauge card and I replaced the first
card.
The device file dialogues to open the stream aren't reasonable. The
default device in VLC is /dev/dvb/video0 but /dev/dvb doesn't exist.
It must be a default compiled in or from a configuration file.
VLC and Test Bench show /dev/v4l/by-path/ as empty whereas it contains
four files. In a terminal, copied "pci-0000:02:0d0-video-index1" to
the clipboard, selected /dev/v4l/by-path/ in the dialogue and pasted
the file name "pci-00 ...". The "Open" button was inactive but
"Enter" opened the device. Test Bench then gave a plausible image
from the camera. One problem solved.
Didn't get the media selection in VLC to work yet but the effort with
Test Bench should help. I left it there and will resume next week.
When we have a reasonable image from the microscope, will post another
report.
Any ideas about the faulty device dialogue. A dependancy not
respected?
Thanks again, ... Peter E.
