You can run top in batch mode, around the interesting interval like
so:

  top -d 10 -b > /tmp/top

(-d is the "display interval" in seconds. Choose a value with sufficient
resolution to "see" what's going on, but not as high as to fill up your
disk).

You can then correlate your top's time stamp with your load graphs
(top writes the current time in the header).
