Re: Getting strange char sequences in email

Hi,

test results are in.

My own mail came as:
  Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit
with the quoted mail address as
> "Sa=C5=A1a_Jani=C5=A1ka" is "Sasa_Janiska" with haceks on the "s".

The copy from debian-user@lists.debian.org came with
  Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable
and the quoted mail address
> "Sa=3DC5=3DA1a_Jani=3DC5=3DA1ka" is "Sasa_Janiska" with haceks on the "s"=

I.e. the list mail server converted each "=" to "=3D", except
the last

My alpine mail client displays both as
"Sa=C5=A1a_Jani=C5=A1ka" is "Sasa_Janiska" with haceks on the "s".
I.e. it kept the "8bit" text as in the mailbox file and converted
the "=3D" in "quoted-printable" back to "=".

(This mail must look very confusing on a client which does not
convert "quoted-printable" back to 8 bit.
If so: convert equalsign+"3"+"D" to equalsign.)

Have a nice day :)

Thomas
