I'm unable to follow what happened due to lack of partition and disk details.
Maybe others who would try to help have the same problem. Provide output from
fdisk -l or gdisk -l and maybe the help limitation will go away.
Possibly the original problem could be worked around or even solved by chroot
installing Grub to replace Lilo.
