That's right.  The plugin I use calls VLC to do the actual playing.

So, for the video in question, the above is sidestepped or not
relevant.  However, I now under know why the gstreamer lib is needed.

....and that.  I'll see what it throws up later.

I installed gstreamer1.0-libav and restarted Iceweasel;  Sound was
killed for at least one game on FB (I didn't test anything else).
Removing the lib and restarting Iceweasel got the sound back.  So, for
now, I'll live without it.
