Oops, forgot the gave example:
first two commands were run first time yesterday, other two were first
after about 6hrs (first thing in morning)
$> time sudo fstrim -v /var
/var: 4278566912 bytes were trimmed

$> time sudo fstrim -v /home
/home: 49507049472 bytes were trimmed
real 0m31.243s

$> time sudo fstrim -v /home

user 0m0.028s

$> time sudo fstrim -v /var
