It "sounds" like you've tried allowing the installer to mount those
mediums first, which is the correct procedure. Do not manually mount the
medium containing the firmware.

If the correct files are in the correct place and you are still having a
problem..... those mediums are formatted FAT32 right?

Yes.
e.g. with a *FAT32* formatted USB Flash drive used for an installs on
boxes requiring the same firmware

Not necessary. You've already got the required firmware file (all 5.4KB
of it), it's just not pre-loaded into the installer CD.
